Glasgow and Edinburgh – separated by a thoroughly pleasant 45 minutes train journey, but worlds apart.Glasgow, once an industrial city of cold stone and grime, has successfully been rejuvenated into a thriving city where stunning Victorian architecture sits happily alongside some breathtaking new
landmark designs. A notoriously friendly city, the bars and restaurants in and around the west end and city centre are fantastic venues to while away the evenings. During the day, the museums and galleries together with riverside walks and both vintage and high-end boutiques provide visitors with a weekend that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
Edinburgh, with its Castle standing like a sentry above the city, seduces the visitor with its narrow winding cobble streets, hidden doorways concealing cosy bistros, and Gothic architecture to keep you outdoors until tempted inside by some unmissable exhibition or intriguing museum. A beautiful city which more than lives up to expectations, with bars and restaurants and shopping which will make you never want to leave.
Of course, you needn’t be pulled in one direction…. choose to stay in both cities, dividing your time between the two. A night in Glasgow, followed by 2 nights in Edinburgh, or 3 nights in Glasgow, with a day trip to Edinburgh and fly home from Edinburgh airport with an open-jaw flight….? Just ask.
